I’ve only been to Royal Tavern a handful of times, but once only to eat. It has been on my list to try their burger for some time now. The housemate and I came in for brunch last weekend and I satisfied my burger craving.

Royal Tavern’s Angus Burger comes with smoked gouda, a pickled longhot, caramelized onions, bacon, and chile mayo on a seeded brioche bun. As much as I love smoked gouda, I would prefer a more melty cheese on a burger. I still think it adds a great flavor to this burger though. The burger is crazy juicy! It had this very slight char taste which I found to be tasty. The bun is toasted too (not something I’ve noticed on many burgers I’ve had in the city). I am most definitely a fan of this burger.

Oh, I forgot to mention. The fries are pretty damn good and are served with a malt vinegar mayo. If you come for brunch, you can also have one of the best, if not the best, bloody marys in Philly!
*Burger ordered medium-rare of course.

Love that burger. The malt vinegar mayo is off the chain.
