craft – craft burger

Name: Craft Burger
Location: Craft, 43 E 19th St, New York, NY 10003
Protein: 8 oz (my guess) beef patty
Bun: Brioche
Toppings: Smoked gouda, caramelized onions, pickles
Burger to Bun Ratio: Perfect
Accompaniments: Fries, ketchup, mustard
Price: $29/person restaurant week lunch

Notes, etc.: The Craft Burger was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The toasting of the brioche bun gave it the strength it needed to withstand the juiciness of the burger. Sweet, caramelized onions were tucked under the melted, generous amount of smoked gouda. A couple sweet pickle chips topped the gouda. The accompanying fries were plentiful and good.
I unfortunately can’t verify whether or not this burger is available on Craft’s regular lunch menu.

schnippers – the big schnipp

big schnipp
Name: The Big Schnipp
Location: Schnippers, 23 E 23rd St, New York, NY 10010 (multiple locations in NYC)
Protein: 2, 5 oz. Creekstone Farms beef patties
Bun: Brioche
Toppings: American cheese, lettuce, plum tomatoes, pickles, red onion, Schnippers sauce
Burger to Bun Ratio: Perfect
Accompaniments: Nothing (Fries are $2.99 extra)
Price: $10.99

big schnipp x-section
Notes, etc.:
The burger was cooked to my liking at medium-rare (I guess it was more on the medium side though) and was very juicy, messy, and tasty. The brioche bun was toasted and surprisingly held together throughout consumption.

At $2.99 extra, you get seasoned and satisfactory shoestring fries. I could probably go without them next time.

Schnippers serves a great fast food style burger. If you get sad from the crazy long line at Shake Shack, keep heading down 23rd to get your burger fix.

upland – upland cheeseburger

upland cheeseburger
Name: Upland Cheeseburger
Location: Upland, 345 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10010
Protein: 2, 4 oz. grass-fed La Frieda beef patties
Bun: Orwasher’s Seeded Bun
Toppings: American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, peppadew peppers, avocado
Burger to Bun Ratio: Perfect
Accompaniments: Fries, pickle & a side of ketchup
Price: $21

uplandcheeseburgerxsection
Notes, etc.:
The thin patties are cooked to around medium. The savoriness of the cheese, beef, and peppers go well with the smoothness & butteriness of the very healthy portion of avocado. The Orwasher’s seeded bun held up to the juiciness until the very last 2-3 bites, where it finally started to split, though I was able to avoid any burger insides spilling onto my plate. The bun had a firm exterior, with a light, airy interior. The tasty accompanying shoestring fries were salted, crispy, and served in a perfect portion.

Keep in mind, the burger is only available on the lunch menu. It is a little on the pricey side, but it you won’t be disappointed!

wimpy’s original – wimpy cheese burger

wimpys_cheeseburger
Name: Wimpy Cheese Burger
Location: Wimpy’s Original, 1015 N Providence Rd., Media, PA 19063
Protein: 6 oz. Angus beef
Bun: Aversa Bakery Bun
Toppings: American cheese, lettuce, tomato, fried onion, bang bang sauce (Wimpy’s secret sauce)
Burger to Bun Ratio: Great
Accompaniments: Fries & soda (with combo meal)
Price: $9.85 (combo)

wimpys_cheeseburgerxsection
Notes, etc.: The burger is customizable, as you have lots of choices in toppings. I wanted a closer to traditional flavor profile for mine.

The fresh Aversa bun was delicate and airy, yet strong enough to hold up to the juicy burger. It was tasty and had a good sear which added some texture. The bang bang sauce had some notes of sweetness and spiciness and complimented the burger and fries well. The combo came with a very generous helping of fries. This may be the best burger I’ve had in Delaware County.

white rose system – small burgers

whiterosesystem_smallburgers
Name: Small burgers
Location: White Rose System, 201 E 1st Ave, Roselle, NJ 07203
Protein: Beef (looked freshly formed with rough edges)
Bun: Regular white
Toppings: Chopped, grilled onion, American cheese
Burger to Bun Ratio: A little more bread than meat.
Accompaniments: Crinkle cut fries, pickles
Price: $6.64 (for the combo, 2 small burgers + fries + 12 oz. shake)

whiterosesystem_smallburgersxsection
Notes, etc.: These had a steamed quality to it, just like a White Castle slider, though these were a bit larger. I would have liked more beef for the amount of bun, but it was still tasty. $6.64 for steamed, griddled burgers with fries and a shake is an awesome deal.

They also had regular sized burgers which, I believe, were served on kaiser rolls. Anyone know if these are steamed as well?
